We will list here all the evidence and undeniable proof that exists, we examine episode by episode from 1 to 81, and present it all here: quotes, hints, moods, looks, suggestions, names, places, clothes, visual evidence - everything that proves that Jesse and James could in no way be romantic couple.
In detail we have described the character biographies of our heroes so by reading that you will know what we mean when we say that James is a flaming gay homosexual, and Jesse is a sadistic, desperate narcissist who has had terrible luck with men.
Now relax as we take you on a Rockeshipping journey through the Indigo League.
Episode 007: The Water Flowers of Cerulean City
The first inklings of James' personality began with this episode. All it took was an immortal line.
"It's times like these that make me want to go straight."
Granted, Team Rocket were just zapped by Pikachu, but coming from James this line is pure gold.
The campiness of working for Team Rocket can sometimes have it's downfall.
James here assumes that being hetero would afford him a lesser chance of being blown........................up.
Just like in real life.
Episode 008: The Path to the PokŽmon League
The very next episode involved a short scene with all members of Team Rocket.
They have stolen from the gym what they think is Pikachu and are trying to scarper with a sack which is unusually heavy and which neither member wants to carry.
"I'm exhausted," grunts James, clutching the sack over his shoulder, "You take the bag now."
Jesse then makes the fatal mistake of trying to use her formidable charms on the one person in the world who is actually immune.
"But a real gentleman," she says coyly, giving him puppy dog eyes, a sly smile and draping a weak arm across her chest, "Always carries the bag."
"Is that so?" grunts James, unimpressed by her girlie-bits, "Well as you know, I'm no gentleman!"
As he thrusts the sack at her, she tries one last time, Meowth watches it all with a smile.
He's not dumb.
If James were indeed "in love with Jesse" then surely, he would do the macho thing and not give the bag to her to carry. She flutters her eyebrows at him, attempting to make him believe that she is just a frail female creature, but her feminine wiles do not work on such a man. A man who confesses he is more a lady himself, then a gentleman.
Episode 009: The School of Hard Knocks
Poor Rocketshippers.
It is this episode that they use as their first piece of "evidence". As Team Rocket observe the little bitch Giselle in action and while Jesse comment that she is more conceited than them, James agrees and, his eyes becoming big and feminine with girlish eyebrows which he bats delightfully, comments that "she's awfully cute, isn't she!"
Not as cute as Meowth of course.
Well, we covered most of this off in our Rocketshipping Rebuttal page so we shan't repeat it.
Although we are going to anyway.
This comment, a comment we feel is not true to the Japanese text, was made once in "School of Hard Knocks" (an episode when James had a very butch voice) and, despite all the attractive and cute girls that have graced the series since that early episode, he has never once made that or a similar comment again.
Not even about Jesse.
Not once.
Ever.
Episode 015: Battle Aboard the St Anne
This is the first great outing of James in all his dragtastic glory.
A blond schoolgirl with killer legs and one word of vocabulary.
He squeals excitedly, clutches his cheeks as he screams "Cooooooool!!!!" and giggle girlishly with delight.
After he and Jesse rush away, legs kicking up in the air, just like a school girl, he comments that he makes "the coooooolest girl!" and Jesse, sick of his lacidasical ways, smacks him clear into next week with a giant mallet. He was obviously concentrating too much on being the coolest girl and not enough on the plan.
Now seriously, look at James expression during this scene. There is no frown, no look of "I'm doing this all for Jesse", no look of "next time we steal men's clothes".
No.
James is enjoying being a girl and even passes the comment himself. He'd make a great girl.
Jesse get's a bit pissed at this and undertakes a bit of gay bashing of her own, frustrated that she can't get into his pants but he can fit into her knickers.
Episode 016: Pokemon Shipwreck
A few things pop up in this episode, a few Rocketshipping rumours that we must quelch.
Team Rocket are preparing to face their watery doom. They embrace for what they expect will be their last moments.
Jessica," says James, more serious than usual.
"Yes James?"
"Whoever said beauty doesn't last, must have been thinking of us!"
James did not say "whoever said beauty doesn't last, must have been thinking of you!" Which he probably would have said had he been Jesse's boyfriend. Instead he turns the conversation around to himself
"I'll always remember what a wonderful dresser you were," sniffs Jesse.
"So will I," replies James sadly, knowing it's true, he has STYLE!
He did not say anything nice or boyfriendy here about Jesse. it was all about him.
This scene proves nothing.
Later in the same episode, James goes over all dramatic again, wanting to be heroic and brave by insisting that Jesse and Meowth go on without him when they are again faced with uncertain death. Jesse instantly responds by hitting him with several back-hands.
"James! James! James! James! James! snap out of it!" she growls knowing full well he is no gentleman as he confessed. He is not the gallant hero he is pretending to be, he's just a big girl's blouse and beats him within an inch of his life until he comes around.
He then breaks down and begs Jesse not to leave him behind like the cowering wimp he is.
Again another Rocketshipping stereotype blasted here. We are talking about the vision of Jesse as the frail doe-eyed damsel in distress and James as her knight in shining armor. This episode, and in EVERY EPISODE AFTERWARDS we see nothing like that from either character.
If anything this is a very anti-Rocketshipping episode.
Episode 018: Holiday at Aopulco
We won't go into too much detail here. By now you should know all about this episode after looking through our site and will understand that is it one of the best pieces of evidence for our case ever in the history of all things that are anti-Rocketshipping.
Basically James enters a bikini contest in a pair of fake inflatable wazzas which he fondles, gleefully, in front of Misty on stage.
Jesse is not bothered by this whole situation. She has got her eyes on winning the contest and knows with James' bajungas that they will most likely win.
Again, there is no frown, no look of "I'm doing this all for Jesse", no look of "next time we steal men's clothes".
For all we know, this could have been James' idea.
Episode 020: Ghost at Maiden's Peak
We ripped this to shreds in our main Rocketshipping page so will only briefly touch upon this one.
Jesse rescues James from the clutches of a depraved ghostly woman which actually turns out to be a male Ghastly, not because she *cough cough* "loves him" but because she can't stand girls who always
"wait around for her man as if she were his faithful pet".
When Jesse see's a man she wants she goes for him. She would never hang on to a hope that one day her true love would return.
No.
She'd go out and find some other bloke to shag.
James didn't want to get married to Jessebelle, and in a later episode to a young girl who has seen "Murial's Wedding" too many times, there is no reason why he would want to be wicked away by a female ghostly apparition.
An that's another thing. Not once do Rocketshippers mention that the ghostly maiden was actually a male Ghastly.
A talking male Ghastly with the masculine voice of a man that is male.
No Rocketshipping here.
And come on, really, just look at the screen shot above! Look at it!!!
Episode 022: Abra and the Psychic Showdown
Basically here, Jesse and James dress as hula girls; hula girls with plenty of curves, dangerous curves.
It's a disguise so good, that to begin with we couldn't even tell which was which.
They then ambush and then lay a big sloppy wet kiss onto Ash just after they lai him.
Disguises are all part of being Team Rocket but this deserves a special mention simply for the fact that he looks more female here then in any other drag episode.
P.S. he is the one in the brown wig.
Episode 026: Pokemon Scent-sation
Not much here except that while Team Rocket look about for the perfume, James gets on hands and knees for no other reason than that he likes it. A position that he is most used to.
While Team Rocket are stuck in a tree, James calls for help infuriating Jesse who calls him a traitor and proceeds to wrap her legs around his head! (goodness, it seems Jesse herself is a Rocketshipper!) while Meowth cheers her on.
She twists and turns, grunting and panting as she again unsuccessfully attempting to take out her sexual aggressions on poor homosexual James.
It sure doesn't look like he is enjoying it, folks.
Episode 028: Pokemon Fashion Flash
This is the episode that gave us the true James.
The Team open a bogus pokemon salon, Salon Roquet, James is extremely pleased with the concept of external style and, having completed one last rose on the shell of a Squirtle to finish off his latest masterpiece, prances about like a ballerina before coming over all faint and dropping to the floor, arm draped before his mouth.
He's so gay it's cool!
Now, correct us if we're wrong, but the general stereotype is that men with great fashion sense are gay and those who work in the fashion industry are even gayer. We're not convinced that he could be so straight so as to play it gay so well.
In addition, James designed the battle ground, a Fashion Battle Platform (only $29.95 with proof of purchase of Barbie's Dream House!) and he blows up Salon Rocket to reveal a massive Platform with stairs, flowers and curtains with, as the centrepiece, James dressed as Scarlett O'Hara with Jesse dressed as Rhett Butler.
Now the Rocketshipping drag argument doesn't hold water in this situation.
Ash and co already knew they were Team Rocket, so they didn't need to swap roles for the sake of disguise.
No, this was a drag show.
Episode 029: The Punchy Pokemon
Well this episode is very good. it has Jesse wrapping her thighs about James' head and causing the poor young man to cry out, "I CAN'T STAND IT!"
She continues to sit on his head as he collapses to the floor, looking embarrassed as Team Toy Boy look on in shock, and murmurs to James, "Uh, we're not finished yet!"
Now before you get all excited, remember that Jesse is forcing herself on our poor James, who then huddles up in a small ball and tries to calm himself after the experience of having female thighs wrapped around his head.
Again.
Episode 035: The Legend of Dratini
Here, Charlton Heston, who has no time for insestuious mottos, fires his guns at team Rocket who are perched high above on the entrance gate.
Jesse and Meowth huddle against James in fear for the bullets; only because he is the closest to the edge. But James is not scared, seeing this as his chance to prove how butch he really is, he demonstrates his flair for the dramatic saving them as he heroically scoops both his partners up in one arm and leaps off of the thirty foot high gate.
Jesse screams in terror as they plummet head first at gathering speed towards their doom. James reveals he has packed a parachute for just such an occasion and lets the rip cord go, his parachute flies out, unfurling into the air behind them... and they crash hard into the ground before the soft, silken folds of the parachute drape over their battered and broken bodies.
And thus died the last, barely twitching glimpses of any possible heterosexuality James might ever have had.
Episode 036: The Bridge Bike Gang
Here we find out that James and Jesse were once members of a bicycle gang, and while Jesse pursued her Dykes on Bikes hobby complete with leathers and chains, James was nicknames "Little Jim".
Not a slur on his manhood we hope.
Chopper, the leader of the bike gang, certainly holds a candle to James and upon meeting him again, James says to him, in his most seductive voice "You're looking good, Chopper", while Jesse concerns herself with the female members of the gang.
Episode 037: Ditto's Mysterious Mansion
Blink or you'll miss it; James flayed out in all his glory, clasping a long, but limp Dratini in his hands in a somewhat homoerotic manner.
This is a very good anti-Rocketshipping episode.
It is revealled in this episode, that Jesse carries around with her a photo of her first boyfriend.
If she were going out with James, would she really be doing something like this.
Not only might hetero-James be upset or jelous, but he never even knew she had it.
James and Meowth desperately try to see, laughing and joking as Jesse pushes them away.
If he were going out with Jesse, would he really be doing something like this.
She then asks ditto to transform into her boyfriend.
If she were going out with James, would she wouldn't really be doing something like this.
What we want to know is, if Ditto had successfully been able to duplicate Jesse's first boyfriend (or actually, the boy she had a crush on) what would she have done with him?
Shake his hand?
We don't think so.
Take a long, hard think about that one.
Episode 041: Wake Up Snorlax
In a somewhat bestial manner, James makes a pass at Meowth while he is decked out in his Price Charming gear, in an attempt to wake up Snorlax with a kiss, just like the fairy tales.
Commenting to Meowth that he "doesn't look that bad", Meowth shoots him down with a quick "keep your eyes to yourself!!!"
We know that Meowth has always known that James is gay.
And this is not the first instance where he has had to fend of unwanted advances from James when in a vulnerable situation.
Episode 045: The Song of Jigglypuff
Now, we know it's a position that James is very keen on and quite used too almost as much as being on all fours, but we must remember, that this guy in the screen shot, the dude in leather, seen mounting James, is actually punching him in the face.
Jesse receives a hefty spanking of her own from a rather rotund woman. Something she is not quite used to.
But both too worried about freeing themselves than defending the honour of the other.
Episode 047: A Chansey Operation
James stands back an watches blankly as the sordid womaniser, Doctor Proctor, puts the moves on Jesse who comes over all coy and laps it up without any protest.
James doesn't intervene.
Certain Rocketshipper writings would have us believe that actually James is seething with jealousy, and that and that it is written all over his face.
He looks more bemused than anything else.
Seriously, if they really are into eachother as much as Rocketshippers would have us believe, then why did he not step between them and put Doc straight with a, "hands off, punk, she's my woman"?
Why did Jesse not speak up with a "sorry Doctor, but I'm with James"?
Episode 048: Holy Matrimony!
And this episode. This episode is in no way "proof of Rocketshipping". If anything, it's proof of anti-Rocketshipping.
We have gone into this already in our main Rocketshipping page, so again we won't go into too much detail.
In a nutshell, Jesse finds out James is seriously loaded and schemes to marry him off like a 14 year old Indian girl and pocket the cash.
Does this sound like something a true girlfriend would do?
We discover Jessebelle, James' betrothed, is a spitting image of Jesse, yet she fails to see it and James fails to recognise it when he is with her. What he is terrified of is her heterosexual dominatrix ways. he ran away from home because his parent tried to enforce hetero upon him and he certainly wasn't about to go back.
And think about it. When Jesse (and Meowth) discover what pain they have placed him in, not once do they try to rescue him.
Not once does Jesse rush in and defend him. The was no "hands off, bitch, he's my man".
No.
She leaves.
James finds his own way out, no thanks to her and is reunited with his Rocket chum. And if the last scene tells us anything, it's that James, while scared of any pair of breasts that is not inflatable, tends to see Jesse as no threat because she is simply to masculine to make him scared of hetero thoughts.
Episode 051: Bulbasaur's Mysterious Garden
And if this isn't a seriously phallic image of symbolic proportions, then we don't know what is.
Episode 052: Princess vs. Princess
James isn't the least bit interested to be shopping with a bargain mad Jesse. Not a very gay thing you might say. Granted, but while it is true that not all gays dress in drag, not all gays are keen on shopping.
Especially for cheap designer knock-offs like the ones she is buying!!
Later, James offers to help Jesse to win the contest. This is not a sign of love, it is a sign of loyalty.
Team Rocket will do anything to win; lie, cheat, steal - whatever it takes and at any cost.
And when she becomes upset at losing, he attempt to cheer her up with a spot of dress up - and he even does a makeover on each of their pokemon too!
What a great, gay friend.
But the most important part of the episode is James' quote, "I don't think I'm tough enough to be a woman."
He understands that it takes a lot of muscle and a lot of effort to be female; and he understands that he just isn't simply tough enough to be one. of course, he's not really a man either (as is revealed in a later Orange Island episode) women are just to much for him.
Episode 053: The Purr-fect Hero
Another good episode.
James take a turn as a magician's assistant to Jesse.
Now seriously, look at James' expression during this scene. There is no frown, no look of "I'm doing this all for Jesse", no look of "next time we steal men's clothes".
There is a big smile across his face.
But, you might say, they are actually cross dressing to fool Ash so they can steal Pikachu.
True, but as we have proved, even when they don't cross dress Ash still can't tell the difference so it really wouldn't have mattered.
It was a disguise of choice.
Episode 054: The Case of the K9 Capers
Jessie and James dress up as Officer Jenny.
Both of them this time in a tribute to the St Anne, they both get to show a bit of thigh.
Now seriously, look at James expression during this scene. There is no frown, no look of "I'm doing this all for Jesse", no look of "next time we steal men's clothes".
They raise up a screen and change into Jenny gear, while giggling away like little girls. While at school together, they would have gotten used to sharing clothes and changing in the same room as neither has any desire on the body of the other (except when Jesse is in on the prowl in which case she will stop short of raping the poor guy to get her some man flesh.)
And we must make the point that it is proved in this scene, he can run very easily in high heels. Now some women will say that even walking in heels can be difficult, yet drag artists are very well known for the tricks they can do in these shoes.
Episode 056: The Ultimate Test
Jesse and James sign up for a special pokemon school and he makes the mistake of calling Jesse old, and she slaps him around some before he realizes it's her.
But there is no hugging and kissing to make up for it like a real couple might do.
He then makes a bitchy remark about her choice of clothes, saying "Jesse, is that you? That outfit is atrocious!".
Rocketshippers need to sit down, watch and listen to that scene very carefully, because everything about what just took place is very, very homosexual.
James, being a man of fashion and style would know a thing or two about outfits and would not be afraid to pass comment like that. In Rocketshipperland, Jesse turns and asks him "does my butt look big in this?" And he responds with "no, my darling, you look as stunning as ever. Let's kiss and hug and kiss."
Instead he snaps at her lack of fashion sense in the same way a gay hairdresser would say "oh honey, that hairdo is simply divine!"
Jessie quits in the middle of the exam, and James says, "Jesse's been expelled! I'll have to do my best for her!" Some Rocketshippers will use this scene as proof of love and devotion. But it's not, it's all part of being Team Rocket as he is their only hope to win one for the team. obviously Meowth can't do it.
Episode 057: The Breeding Centre Secret
Now this is a very anti-Rocketshippy episode if there ever was one.
Firstly, it is discovered that Jesse had a fling with Cassidy during her pre-Team Rocket years that James knew nothing about. Of course, the poor dim boy still did not pick up on the signs, referring later to Cassidy as "that friend of yours, Jesse."
This is also the first of many episodes where we are confronted with the many double entendres and frequent images of Victrebell sucking James' head.
And we mean his cranium.
Episode 060: Beach Blank-out Blastoise
Team Rocket motto is read as usual, with Jesse and James doing themselves proud with the remarkable dramatic poses they take.
Obviously this was choreographed by James, who has all the talents necessary to become a world famous choreographer (excellent dancer with a history in ballet, modern theatre, an actor and, of course, he's gay).
Episode 061: The Misty Mermaid
Aha. Now we have made it to this episode. A favourite among Rocketshippers because of it's "proof" that James is not gay.
Bwahahahahahahahahahahaha
Oh, goodness. Never laughed so hard before......
Team Rocket tie up the two sisters who were to play the villains, and replace them on stage. Jessie dressed as a male dancer, and James in a ballerina costume, and they leap out, dressed like ballerinas.
Ballerinas.
The monstrosity of this episode is James' deeper-than-normal voice he puts on and the total out-of-character speeches he slurs out.
The translators, desperate not to show kids any other possible form of sexual orientation in case they grow up enlightened, throw a totally out of character and out of context line into James' mouth, making his voice deeper than usual and causing fans around the world to fall into epileptic seizures.
When Team Rocket make their entrance in the ballet gear, James has taken the tutu and Jesse in the slightly more masculine gear.
The horrible line from James "Next time we steal men's clothes" is so out of character it's sickening. The expression and action which accompanied the line did not mesh.
See he was smiling.
He wasn't frowning.
He wasn't upset, or throwing a wobbly.
He wasn't embarrassed.
And it's not surprising since before this episode he had already dressed as Officer Jenny, a schoolgirl, Scarlett O'Hara and entered a bikini contest.
See, he had the choice. He could have worn the males character outfit that Jesse had on.
He had the choice, he could have been the male ballet dancer wearing the figure hugging costume of Jesse's, but no, he choose ballerina.
And he was happy.
Episode 063: Battle of the Badge
A small point here we would like to pass.
A wandering Togepi falls from on high and bounces off James' round, pert cheeks and wanders away.
It's something James is used to feeling when he's out in a crowded bar or cruising the streets at night, but not while doing a stakeout with Team Rocket!
And then he blames Meowth, not Jesse for getting a bit too fresh with him. We know there have been times where he has had a seemingly un healthy fascination with Meowth. Meowth of course goes on the defensive and denies everything.
He's not dumb.
Episode 065: Battle at the PokŽ-coral
This episode contains a great scene we must point out.
Giovanni gets angry at Team Rocket and Jesse and Meowth run and hide behind James, who just looks pathetic.
He turns and looks at the two of them in surprise as if to say, "since when did I become the man?"
He tried before in Legend of Dratini and failed miserably. He's just not macho enough.
Maybe he need to spend more time in the YMCA.
Episode 070: Go West, Young Meowth
James made it quite clear he wants to take his part in preserving musical theatre!
Surely this is a dead giveaway.
He's bound to have a couple of Streisand albums in his possession.
Probably knows the librettos to Cabaret!, RENT and Les MisŽrables.
Possibly performed the Wizard of Oz off-Broadway at one stage.
May have been in the chorus line in the school plays.
Could have been one of the Little Maids from School in The Mikado.
Episode 071: To Master the Onix-pected
Brief but momentous.
If Jesse and James are a couple as some of you claim to believe, then we point you to the scene when Jesse says to James while trying to escape some Onix, "don't you know ladies go first?!", and he replies with, "Etiquette, schmetiquitte!".
Basically, he's saying, "screw you, Jesse, I'm doing what I like, your feminine tricks will not work on me. You have no effect on my pants".
Episode 073: Bad to the Bone
Now this is one of our favourite episodes and one of our most convincing pieces of evidence.
Team Rocket have pulled off a successful scam for once by steal the badges belonging to a pokemon trainer with which he was going to enter the pokemon league, but Jesse betrays the whole team and runs off with the badges on her own.
So much for Rocketshipping.
I mean, really, if their relationships is all you say it is, then this is very out of character for Jesse. She takes the badges, disguises herself, abandons James and Meowth and attempt to enter the league herself.
And without any regrets.
That's right, we forgot, Rocketshippers have only seen three episodes.
James and Meowth take off after her, James spots Jesse and sees through her disguise, saying he recognises her sense of style because the two of them share such similar tastes (accompanied by images of them dressed in some of their best ensembles). This would come from those days at school when wardrobes were shared between them.
When Ash and his team search the possessions of James and Mewoth they come across some interesting stuff. Amongst them tabs off soda cans, makeup consisting of nail polish, lipstick and mascara, and photos of himself because he likes to look at himself in his spare time.
What? No photos of Jesse?
But Rocketshippers are telling us she is his girlfriend. Seems a bit strange that while Rocketshippers claim they are lovers, she carries around with her a photo of her ex-boyfriend, and he carries around photos of himself.
The tabs off the soda cans holds a special significance. As we mentioned in James' biography, young girls will often attempt to remove the tab from a soda can completely. If they fail, they can give it to a boy and get a kiss, but if they succeed they give it to a boy and get sex.
James has many.
Episode 074: All Fired Up
Team Rocket are at the stadium to greet the flame bearer dressed as Ancient Greeks, but that doesn't stop them from cross-dressing.
Jesse is clothed in the men's garments and James is wearing the woman's clothes.
Again James had the choice to be in the position of wearing either male or female attire.
Now, look at James' expression in the screen cap. There is no frown, no look of "I'm doing this all for Jesse ", no look of "next time we steal men's clothes".
He is perfectly content.
Episode 075: Round One - Begin!
Ash's opponent in the first round is the Amazing Mandy.
Mandy is a very, eh.... flamboyant individual, and his effeminate nature and magic tricks infuriate Jesse and enrapture James, who claims that he "likes this guys style".
Not gay indeed........
Episode 076: Fire and Ice
The kids are looking for a Pokemon Centre and instead they find a finger from the alley summoning them. They discover a hidden PokŽmon Centre, or so they think.
Then they meet Nurse James.
Yes. James, face covered, wearing a cute little short nurses uniform takes the kids to a fake PokŽmon Centre with a fake Nurse Joy played by a real hot Jesse.
Now, although James' face is nearly completely hidden there is still no indication of "I'm doing this all for Jesse", no indication of "next time we steal men's clothes".
In fact we're getting sick of repeating ourselves.
Episode 079: Friend and Foe Alike
When Jesse makes the comment, "There was something that prevented me from having friends when I was a little girl", James responds with, "It must've been your personality."
We don't see this as being a Rocketshippy thing for James to say to his apparent "girlfriend".
If he was her "boyfriend" he might instead have comforted her with words of love.
Episode 081: Pallet Party Panic
This episode was chose simply because of the way James is straddling the tree in the screenshot, and we don't think he is too keen about where Jesse is putting her hands!
